who we are

president's address

Welcome to My Tejano Awards, I am Mike Flores, president of Tejano Music Hall of Fame Awards, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created on March 29, 2017 in Mission, Texas. The Tejano Music Hall of Fame Awards’ Board of Directors together with the City of Mission and the Mission Event Center proudly present the annual “My Tejano Awards” show and dance.

During our awards show and dance we will be honoring Tejano Music’s past and present artists for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the Tejano Music Industry. I want to thank and acknowledge the following board members; Mando San Roman (1st Vice President), Mr. Balde Muñoz (Treasurer) and Ms. Estela Flores (Secretary), who have honorably served and volunteered hundreds of hours to make this event possible. Together we wish to thank our voting members which have played a very important role in the selection of our award recipients.

As we begin what promises to be a spectacular “My Tejano Awards” show and dance, we wish to welcome numerous and enthusiastic Tejano and Conjunto fans to the Rio Grande Valley. Our intention is to make this a classic yearly event in the City of Mission, Texas. Together we can reinvigorate and preserve our Tejano culture by “Keeping Tejano Music Alive!”. Our growth depends on each and every one of us, especially you the Tejano music lovers. We ask that you help bring back Tejano and Conjunto music into your home by supporting and educating your children to listen and learn to play an instrument because this is how growth and interest begins.

By helping us promote our motto, “keeping tejano music alive!” we are confident that Tejano music will never die.

On behalf of Tejano Music Hall Of Fame Awards and My Tejano Awards, we have had to make a very tough decision. After monitoring the current Coronavirus pandemic, we continue to see the increasing number of confirmed cases and rising death toll. Therefore, in looking out for the safety of our guests, artists and staff, we must postpone this year’s My Tejano Awards event that was scheduled for Aug 9th to a later date, which we will be announcing soon. For those that had already purchased your MTA tickets, your money will be refunded within the next few days. In the meantime, we continue to pray for all those negatively affected by the this pandemic. We must all do our part and continue to follow the guidelines of wearing our masks, sanitizing, washing our hands and social distancing. We thank you for your understanding and look forward to seeing you on our rescheduled date so that we may once again celebrate and honor La Música Tejana.
